PRODUCT INFO

Fast 2KTM Deck Post Anchor is a more convenient and faster alternative than concrete for setting posts, poles, signs and much more. Fast 2KTM Deck Post Anchor is a two-part proprietary polymer that expands to fill the peripheral void between the post and the hole, based on the evolved technology applied by H.B. Fuller to set utility poles for over 20 years. Because of its expanding nature, one 2.5 lbs bag of Fast 2KTM Deck Post Anchor fills 0.5 cu ft and replaces up to approximately 80 lbs of concrete. Fast 2KTM Deck Post Anchor expands immediately after mixing and holds the posts in 3-5 minutes. Post can be built on in 15-30 minutes after the composite finishes expanding. Fast 2KTM does not require water and provides water resistance after fully cured.
Fast 2KTM Deck Post Anchor is available in 33.1 fl. oz (1 L) bags packaged in either individual packages in retail stores or sold by the case in contractor specialty stores.

Pail kits are also available, please contact an H.B. Fuller Representative for more information.

Fast 2KTM Deck Post Anchor has been specifically engineered for these applications. Check for the ICC-ES or CCMC logo on the package.
Fast 2K Deck Post Anchor can directly replace concrete and is supported by field testing, modeling, and certifications.
When used as per the instructions, Fast 2KTM has no negative environmental consequences on the surrounding soil. Once Fast 2KTM cures, it becomes a solid, long-lasting composite.

Refer to SDS for each component (Part A and B) for individual safety data.

No, the post is set directly in the expanding composite, so there is no extra hardware required; and the Fast 2KTM should be poured directly into the ground without using such tubes. Fast 2KTM is structurally better and designed to be used without a tube as the backfill material is very liquid and will penetrate soil crevices thus providing more of an anchoring effect. The expanding composite will anchor to the surrounding soil, which will improve uplift and lateral load strength.

INSTRUCTIONAL & SAFETY

Yes. Both Fast 2KTM Expanding Composites will bond to itself. It is safe to pour another bag once the previous material has stopped rising. If you have an extra set of hands with you, you can also pour more than one bag at the same time.
Ensure there is no more than 1″ to 2″ (2.5 cm to 5 cm) of standing water in the hole before pouring Fast 2KTM expanding composite into the hole. If there is water in the hole, wait until the water is absorbed by the surrounding soil. Alternatively, users can throw some dirt or gravel into the hole. Remove water with a pump if time is a concern. Fast 2KTM expanding composites will perform well in muddy soil as it is hydrophobic and repels water.
Safety is our priority, so we have two built-in safety features on the mixing bag:

Tear notch: to assist with opening the bag IMMEDIATELY AFTER MIXING however we always suggest you have scissors or a knife next to you ready to cut the corner of the bag as soon as mixing is complete. Failure to cut the bag immediately after mixing will result in the composite expanding inside the bag which may cause the bag to rupture. Mixing must be complete, and the bag cut within 45 seconds of removing outer black clip.

Frangible Safety Seal: which is designed to control the release of mixed material and reduces the possibility of the bag rupturing and subsequent personal injury and property damage if not opened in time.

While these products can be used when ambient temperatures range from -5°F to 105°F (-20°C to 40°C), the bags must be conditioned between 65°F to 80°F (18°C to 27°C) for at least 1-2 hours prior to use. This will provide optimal mixing and cure rate performance.

Product from bags used at lower temperatures will take longer to react, expand, and set, and will produce less volume.

Product from bags used at higher temperatures will react, expand, and set faster, lowering the working time, and producing a higher volume, weaker composite.

This is not a problem; excess product can be removed by carefully cutting it with a shovel or sharp knife to ground level.
SURFACES: Before the composite dries, use a soft cloth and mineral spirits to carefully remove any smudges from surfaces of the post that are visible (above ground) as well as from tools.

POST: After the composite dries, it can only be removed by carefully cutting it with a shovel or sharp knife. Be careful as this may damage the post surface.

After a Fast 2KTM expanding composite cures, it is hard to remove it from clothing. You can try to remove it by carefully scrubbing it off with a pumice stone. Please keep in mind that this technique may damage the clothing.
SKIN: Should some of the composite get on your skin, wipe away, then wash the area immediately while product is still wet. Should the product cure on your skin, apply liberal amounts of hand lotion to the area, multiple times a day, and it will peel away after 2-3 days.

HAIR/BEARD: If the composite gets into your hair or beard, coat the area thoroughly with hair conditioner and leave it for 10 minutes then comb and wash the product out. Repeat as necessary.

Fast 2KTM Deck Post Anchor can be installed at ambient temperatures ranging from -5°F to 105°F (-20°C to 40°C). The bags must be conditioned between 65°F to 80°F (18°C to 27°C) for at least 1-2 hours prior to use, to provide optimal mixing and cure rate performance. Do not expose unopened material to extended periods of extreme heat or cold.
Yes. Fast 2KTM expanding composites are hydrophobic so they will repel water and once cured they are water-resistant. Ensure that there is no more than 1” to 2” (2.5 cm to 5 cm) of standing water in the hole before application.
Disposing material is like concrete and is generally classified as general construction material. Please contact your local municipality for specific regulations regarding disposal.

TECHNICAL

Fast 2KTM expanding composites are structural composites that are much stronger than the typical spray foam used around window and door frames. The 2-component chemistry of Fast 2KTM expanding composite provides a consistent closed-cell structure that is water-resistant with a much higher compressive strength than spray foams. The “blow chemistry” of spray foams create large voids in the cell structure which makes the final product perfect for insulation or filling spaces but unsuitable for structural projects.
No, the post cannot be attached to Fast 2KTM, the post must be set directly in the Fast 2KTM.
If your posts are for a load-bearing application, leave the hole dimensions the same as you would use for concrete.

If your posts are for a non-load bearing application, you can reduce the radius of the hole. You can also safely fill the depth of the hole half-way with expanded composite.

For instance, when using concrete, a hole for a 4” x 4” (10 x 10 cm) post has to have a diameter of at least 8” (20 cm). This is because concrete is very thick and cannot be placed in a smaller hole. There would be large air pockets in smaller holes, which would make the concrete very weak.

With Fast 2K™ Deck Post Anchor, you have the option to use a smaller diameter hole without impacting performance; it pours easily as a liquid into the smaller diameter hole and sets up the same, no matter the size of the hole.

It is not uncommon that the actual hole created by an auger will be larger than the bit size. As such, it is possible to utilize a 6″ (15 cm) auger to reduce the amount of composite needed. However, larger sizes will work as well. The diameter of the hole will depend on the quality of the soil and how straight the auger goes into the hole.

It is possible to start with at least a 6″ auger and widen as needed to ensure the post is able to be plumb. Fast 2KTM pours as a liquid into the hole, allowing the hole to be narrower than one might require with traditional concrete. Fast 2KTM also performs well in a smaller hole (which means less removing soil, and more time saving for you!).

These products are closed celled polymeric materials that nearly eliminate all water vapour transmission through the product. This would help to prevent wooden posts from rotting and metal posts from corrosion. To improve protection, installers should wet the sides of the post with the product at least 6″ (15 cm) above ground level.
Fast 2KTM expanding composites are closed cell, so water transmission into the foam is very low; on the contrary, water will penetrate concrete resulting in the opportunity for expansion and contraction stress, which may lead to cracks. Furthermore, the slightly elastic nature of Fast 2KTM allows for expansion and contraction of the post (caused by thermal cycling), without impacting adhesion or cracking.
The low absorption rate of water into Fast 2KTM expanding composites will allow water to drain around the outside of Fast 2KTM, in contrast to concrete which absorbs water quickly.

No, the soil pH will not affect the resilience of the composite.
