Expanding post foam has made people’s fencing projects quicker and easier, but what about the bigger projects like a deck? Many wonder if this new patent pending technology has the load bearing limits and durability to withstand the elements. We’re here to give you the rundown on everything you need to know about expanding foam for deck posts so that your next deck project is a breeze.

Easy to Use

It’s no secret that Fast 2K™ is much easier to use on your deck project than concrete. Forget handling heavy bags of concrete and using water that creates messy mixing. Fast 2K™ requires no water and a 2lb kit of the post and pole installation product replaces a 80 lb bag of concrete. These smaller bags also take up less space during transportation and in storage. Without the water and messy mixing you can count on less clean up time and a faster setting time. It mixes in seconds and you are ready to build within 15 minutes compared to 24-48 hours when using concrete. Not only will you be eliminating messy mixing equipment on your job site, Fast 2K™ also does not require construction tube or brackets for your deck project.

Durable in Cold Weather

Many of our customers live in cold weather climates and want to make sure that their deck will withstand the elements. When using Fast 2K Deck Post Anchor in cold weather, it is critical to condition the bag to 65 – 80 degrees Fahrenheit for at least one hour. Frost on the ground will not impact performance of the product, but posts should be frost free to ensure a strong bond.

Load Bearing

Depending on the design of the structure, Fast 2K may be used to directly replace concrete. In some applications, different hole dimensions may be required. Please consult local regulations and our ICC-ES Report for more details. Fast 2k uses the same technology used for setting utility poles and traffic signs so you can expect this product to safely tackle most deck construction projects.

Has Excellent Longevity

One of the best qualities of Fast 2K™ is that it becomes water-resistant after fully cured. This prevents water from getting into the seams of each post, thereby decreasing expected rot, rust, deterioration, and other water-related damages increasing the longevity of your fence post. Fence posts last an average of 15 – 20 years. The Fast 2K technology has been used in the field for more than 30 years, without degradation of the product.

As a review, there are benefits to expanding foam for deck posts that are apparent like smaller bags, no messy mixing and great load bearing abilities, but there are also great advantages happening at the molecular level when it comes to the chemical bonds of the product giving this material the benefits of durability and longevity.
